Swallow returns
NORTHAMPTON light-welter Richard Swallow, 32, is
on the comeback trail after a five-year break.
Swallow, who won 15 of his 26 pro outings before
hanging up his gloves, has joined Capitol Promotions UK.
Contributor Matthew Bozeat tells me he will start again
under the Coventry outfit's banner when boxing makes a
welcome return in Rugby on June 25.
Debutants Carl Wright, an ABA Novice cruiserweight
champion (Class A) earlier this season, and Rimell Taylor,
a lightweight from Hinckley, also appear.
Swallow claimed the scalps of former Commonwealth
champion Bernard Paul and Nicky Bardie before retiring
and says he wants a championship belt to show for his
career.
But the former NABC champ has played down talk of a
meeting with fellow-Northampton light-welter Alan
Bosworth, whose vacant WBF Inter continental title fight
against Marc Waelkens at the Derngate in his hometown
tonight (Friday May 31) was scrapped a week ago.
Waelkens now meets Jon Thaxton on June 15 in
Norwich. Thaxton promises to be "awesome" at
lightweight.

Tarver revenge bid
AMERICAN southpaw light-heavies Antonio Tarver
and Eric Harding, who staged a belting 12-rounder
won by the latter in June 2000, are to meet again on
the Vernon Forrest-Shane Mosley undercard in
Indianapolis on July 20.

Chacon injured
JULIO PABLO CHACON is injured and his WB0
featherweight title defence against Scott Harrison
in Glasgow a week tomorrow (June 8) has been
postponed, but the show, which features the vacant
British super-featherweight title clash between Alex
Arthur and Willie Limond, still goes ahead as part of
Sky's pay-per-view package which includes Lewis-
Tyson.

Takaloo's aim
TAKAL00 hopes to defend his WBU lightmiddleweight
title in London on July 20, the night
Wayne Alexander bids for Daniel Santos' WB0 crown at
the same weight.
"I'm still the only one of all the light-middleweight
champions willing to take on anyone," he said.
Takaloo, whose cuts to both eyes against Gary
Logan have healed quickly, started training again this
week.

DARIUSZ MICHALCZEWSKI, the long-time
WBO light-heayweight champion, spent
his holidays at the seaside on the island of
Capri, a charming and enchanted bathing
resort opposite Naples.
There he was found drunk, causing a
disturbance and accused of having damaged
a dustbin during a jolly gathering with his
brother Thomas.
