easy — this time taking less than four

champion Tim Williams in their
televised scheduled 10-rounder at the
Albert Hall.
THE crushing fourth round defeat of Bethnal Green
lightweight Mark Reefer by French import Belaid Khaldi in
the eight round main event of Barry Hearn's promotion at
York Hall appears to have killed off any serious challenge
for the British title.
It's not to say Reefer is finished as a professional — he is
certainly one of the hardest punchers in the division — but
his defences were cruelly exposed by the tough but limited
former French title challenger.
SUGAR RAY LEONARD and Marvelous Marvin Hagler
refuse to be tempted into the ring with him again, so
Thomas Hearns gets on with his career as he defends his
World Boxing Council middleweight title against New

Hotel on Monday.

may not get the chance for revenge over the only two men to
have beaten him, but he can console himself by being the
game's first world champion in four weight classes.
A VERY strong North East Counties took the honours
with five title wins in the Newco-Repton Junior ABA finals,
but the bout of the night was a tremendous affair between
Patrick Gray and Lee Hobson with the decision going to
Gray.
