HOMESPUN hero Terry Marsh is the new IBF
light-welterweight champion of the world. He
ripped the title from American holder Joe Louis
Manley with a relentlessly aggressive two handed
punching display that finally forced referee Randy
Neumann to rescue his battered, demoralised,
and thoroughly defeated compatriot after 20
seconds of the 10th of the scheduled 15 rounds.

WEST HAM'S Mo Hussein made it a championship-winning double for manager
Frank Warren when he knocked out Zimbabwe veteran Langton "Schoolboy"
Tinago in the 12th and last round to win the Commonwealth lightweight title.
It was a victory for youth and strength over experience and skill. The 24 year
old Hussein kept marching forward all the time, trying to land his heavy hooks on
the taller champion, who threw long left jabs and right crosses on the retreat.
Hussein went straight on to the attack from the first bell, but Tinago moved
around the ring well, slipping a lot of the challenger's punches.
Hussein got through with a couple of right hands, but the champion came back
with a few left jabs near the end of the round.

AFTER a three-months postponement ex-stablemates
Kirkland Laing and Sylvester Mittee finally get the chance
to fight for the vacant British welterweight title when they
clash at Elephant and Castle Leisure Centre tomorrow
afternoon (Saturday).
The pair have both held the title in the past, Laing
winning it from Henry Rhiney and losing it to Colin Jones
and Mittee winning it from Kostas Petrou and losing both it
and the Commonwealth title to Lloyd Honeyghan.
