IT'S back to basics for Commonwealth middleweight king Tony Sibson
as he challenges for the British title held by Brian Anderson on Frank
Warren's Albert Hall show on Wednesday.
Sibson tops the bill following a money dispute: he was originally
unhappy with the £30,000 purse being split 40-60 against him, claiming
he was the draw, but now the pair will split 50-50.
The fight goes ahead at the third time of asking, having originally been
scheduled to top Warren's first show here in April, and then postponed
until May, when Sibson pulled out injured.
BRITISH light-welterweight champion Lloyd Christie risks his title against
Commonwealth lightweight king Mo Hussein in a potential thriller on Frank
Warren's Albert Hall bill on Wednesday. As with Sibson v Anderson, the fight
was originally scheduled for the promoter's first show at the Kensington arena,
and when Christie pulled out at short notice Hussein stopped substitute Santos
Moreno on a cut.
IN A rare inter-club duel between the giant stables of East
and West London, East Enders Repton showed they still
rule the cockney roost by defeating All-Stars 6-3 in an
excellent clash at the Cafe Royal.
Tony Burns' squad, basically a blossoming young one (it
did include one former ABA finalist), streaked into a 6-0
lead. All-Stars (two ABA champions this year but neither
involved) then replied by winning two split points verdicts
and claiming a first round kayo victim in the show closer.
