F R A N K W A R R E N might be feeling some trepidation
about the much-postponed main event on his Wednesday,
September 16, Albert Hall promotion . The Brian Anderson
versus Tony Sibson British and Commonwealth middleweight
championship has been put off three times
already, twice by ill-health and injury on Sibson's part and
t h e last time by Anderson.
But, at last, the match is firmly on.
I t ' smore of a good value domestic pairing than a repeat
of the glamour matches against t h e likes of Marvin Hagler,
Mark Kaylor, and Dennis Andries in which we have seen
Sibson star before.
LLOYD CHRISTIE has no image to talk about. Nor does he have a record chock
full of meaningless wins over modest opposition. In l x h years as a pro, he has
o p e r a t e d mainly in the deep end of boxing, campaigning in Europe against quality
continental boxers, or dropping in as a late substitute on domestic shows. He's f r om
Wolverhampton, yet only two of his contests have taken place in that West Midlands
town. As unglamorous boxers go he's one of the top men!
Lloyd Honeyghan can p r o d u c e many more performances
like the one he gave in Marbella even the Americans will
start to believe in him. T h e r e has been a reluctance over
t h e r e to give him full credit for his thrashing of Don Curry,
but Lloyd is doing a good j o b of convincing the doubters.
Gene Hatcher did not deserve a title shot, but no one has
ever crushed the Texan in the way that Lloyd did.
