MURPHY (8st 9lbs) had to battle hard before stretching his

southpaw KEITH WARD (8st I libs) after four rounds of a
scheduled six threes, writes ANTHONY CONNOLLY.
Former ABA finalist Ward was officially pulled out
because of a cut over his right eye but he'd cut the St Albans
fighter himself over the right eye and had found him rather
too easy to hit.

Council have turned down his application for a promoter's

Cowdell had planned to promote at West Bromwich in
March, topping the bill himself, and had thought his
application would be a formality.
