BILLY GRAHAM, trainer at the
Phoenix Camp in Manchester, is
facing eviction after falling behind with
the rent
The trainer, reprimanded by the Board
for contravening sponsorship regulations
when his fighter Carl Thompson lost the
WBO cmiserweight title to Johnny Nelson
in March, will now move his gym.
Frank Warren, who promoted the
Thompson-Nelson match, wanted to
make it clear he did not owe Graham
money. The trainer's commission from
Thompson's purse was withheld, but
Warren said he had no contract with
Graham, who could not make any claim
against him.

EAMONN MAGEE'S thirdround
knockout over
Hartlepool southpaw
ALAN TEMPLE proves the
Irishman can compete with
anyone in the UK.
Temple (9st 13 3/4lbs)
dropped a narrow six-round
decision to British lightwelterweight
champion Jason
Rowland at the start of the
month and for two rounds
boxed well, moving better and
firing his quick jab effectively.
Magee, also a southpaw,
stalked patiently, had success
to the body but was generally
a little slow to get to work.
Eamonn (9st 13lbs 14oz) had
his nose bloodied in the second,
concentrated on throwing hard
single shots and was outboxed
once more, though moving
ever closer.

LANION BREWSTER, newly
promoted by Bob Arum, eased
to his 21st straight win on the
De La Hoya bill against Chicago's
exceedingly reluctant MARIO
CAWLEY (14st 12lbs), who folded
tamely in one minute 20 seconds of
round two. It had been scheduled
for eight.

Harris cleans up

WE had a brief glimpse of the improving Newark
heavyweight MAURICE HARRIS, if only against the
totally shot LOUIS MONACO, who looked to have no
punch resistance at all.

A left hook to the forehead and a glancing right hand
put 31 -year-old Monaco, who stopped Ireland's Kevin
McBride a couple of years ago, down dramatically.

Monaco (15st 6lbs), Denver, got up at eight, but had
not recovered. He should not have been allowed to
go on and a left hook and two rights dropped him in a
heap by the ropes.
