THE bad news for Manchester super-bantam Michael
Brodie is he will have to travel to Willie Jorrin's hometown
of Sacramento on June 1 for his WBC title rematch.
Brodie lost a controversial decision to Jorrin in
Manchester last September, but remember how Dennis
Andries went to Australia to defeat Jeff Harding in a
rematch and lost a rubber match in London?
The first of their three epic meetings was in Atlantic City,
but it shows home advantage is not everything - though I
suspect Brodie may have to get a knockout to win.

YOU could say some progress has been made with regards to ROY JONES fighting
German rival DARIUSZ MICHALCZEWSKI when it was announced from Europe the
WBO champion would be prepared to travel to America.
But that is just the beginning. Klaus-Peter Kohl, who promotes Michalczewski, claims he
had made three prior offers for the fight to take place in Germany and had them all rejected.
And to travel to America, Kohl will expect his fighter, who defends next in Poland on May
5, to be richly rewarded.
HBO, who have Jones under contract, have tried to open negotiations but claim to have
been unable to contact Kohl. Jones issued a press release last week saying calls and faxes
had been sent to Kohl to receive a starting price from which to negotiate. Jones' camp claim
they were told Kohl was on holiday.

RICKY HATTON and trainer Billy Graham have been
kicked out of their gym. Owner Steve Alford, who
runs Mottram & Hattersley ABC, was apparently
unhappy with the way things were going. Hatton is
now training for his March 26 showdown with Jason
Rowland at the Nichols Police (formerly Louvolite)
gym where he first started boxing many moons ago.

PAUL RUSHT0N may have been unanimously outpointed
by Mark McLean (Birtley) at welter at the
Manor Club, but put up a worthy performance considering
he was coming back from serious illness.
The Hoyle Mill member - who celebrated his 28th birthday the day
before - had five bouts before contracting an illness which almost
finished his career. He came back, but for three years could only train
at the gym under head coach Frank Lindley.
Rushton decided to attend a coaching course, but later said he just
wished to box again. Frank steered him through five bouts since the
end of last season, which took Paul into these finals.
