ALL is forgiven. Oscar De La Hoy a, in
need of a promoter, is poised to return to
work w i t h Bob Arum.
The promoter, who last year filed a lawsuit against the boxer
for breach of contract, will presumably drop all charges.
Arum also lost in court when trying to prevent De La Hoya from
fighting Arturo Gatti in March.
Now the pair, who started together in 1992 and fell out, are set
to put aside their differences and become friends once more. This
happens in boxing - and often.

ALEX ARTHUR, Scotland's highly promising superfeatherweight,
will not box until the New Year.
Arthur's girlfriend gave birth to a boy recently and
Alex, who was to have boxed at Wembley on December
15, wants to spend time with his family.

CHATHAM southpaw Johnny Armour did his utmost to stop Tredegar's taller Ian Turner in their bantam
eight-rounder but had to make do with a shut-out 80-72 verdict from referee Lee Cook, writes TONY CONNOLLY.
This one went on right after the main event and, for a change, most of the fans stayed behind. They saw a cracker as Armour chased and harassed,
trapping the nimble journeyman on the ropes to pump both arms. Johnny set a furious pace in his first fight for almost a year, but while landing plenty,
didn't have the power to finish it early.

READER James Byrne (BNNovember 16) signs off his letter with a valid question about Rocky
Marciano which has been touched on in the pages of Seconds Out before. It is something
which has puzzled me for years, yet I have never read a satisfactory explanation.
You look at any biography, record book, contemporary boxing publication or internet archive
site and they will all tell you Marciano made his pro debut (scoring the first of his 49 victories) on
March 17,1947 against one Lee Epperson.
Yet the "amateur" defeat by Coley Wallace, which James refers to, took place during March
1948 in a Golden Gloves contest in New York.
