DANNY ROMERO had to come off Don King's Mandalay
Bay show in Las Vegas last weekend (Tapia-Soto
bill) because of a contractual dispute involving
King's former partner, Frank Warren.
Romero's camp had alleged the contract with Warren had
been breached and he was therefore free to go ahead with a
match against Thailand's Ratanachai Vorapin, but Sports
Network contacted King to say otherwise.
King, who has been in court with Hasim Rahman for the
past few weeks, decided to avoid another legal fracas and
pulled Romero off the card. The Romeros were unhappy, with
tickets having been sold and Showtime televising.

BRITISH and Commonwealth heavyweight champion
DANNY WILLIAMS is now off tomorrow's Velodrome
show, much to the relief of Julius Francis, no doubt.
Francis said Williams (left) was taking a risk meeting
Kali Meehan last month just six weeks before their July 28
showdown.
So what he thought of the plan of Danny fitting in another
fight tomorrow, God only knew. Defeat for Danny and his
grudge rematch with Julius would have gone up in smoke.
However, Sports Network told us on Tuesday Williams
had been pulled off the bill to concentrate on Francis.
Makes sense.

AFTER Suffolk success through Daniel
James and David Starie, it is great to
see Ipswich now has a f u t u re superstar
w i t h the second coming of Spartacus.
He is fast becoming the second biggest
sporting a t t r a c t i o n in Ipswich - bar the football
club - and is sure to go on to big things.
With Eubank gone and Naseem Hamed
becoming t o o arrogant to be true, this
extremely likeable young man who backs up
style w i t h substance is t he next big box office
draw in t he country.
Spartacus, of course, has much to learn and
a long way to go. But the manner in w h i c h he
destroyed Doncaster's Kevin Burton in one
was a j o y to watch.
