JEFF CHANDLER, of Philadelphia, retained his WBA
bantamweight title with a stunning one punch kayo over exchamp
Julian Solis, of Puerto Rico, in the seventh round of
their nationally televised fight at Resorts International
Hotel.
MIGUEL CANTO'S revenge win over Gabriel Bernal
earned the former WBC champion very little praise.
The decision was hotly disputed by Bernal's manager,
Jorge Zarate, and Cholain Rivera, Canto's ex-manager, said
he thought Miguel should retire.
The referee Octavio Meyran echoed Rivera's remarks and
said that Bernal would have received his vote but for some
infractions of the rules.
THE Moscow Olympic selection controversy, revived
