THE fairy story could be coming to an end for Jim Watt who
defends his WBC lightweight title against Alexis Arguello at
Wembley tomorrow (Saturday).
The title fight is scheduled for 10 p.m. to suit American television
requirements.
This is Watt's fifth defence of the crown he won over two years
ago by stopping Alfredo Pitalua for the title which was vacant
because great champion Roberto Duran abdicated unbeaten to go
up and win the welterweight title.

AMERICAN fight fans seem to have sold WBA lightmiddleweight
champion Ayub Kalule badly short.
He's almost looked on as a no-hoper for his fight on
Thursday with Sugar Ray Leonard.
After all, it's not as if Sugar Ray were about to meet
one of those established super-stars such as Hearns,
Duran, Benitez or even Cuevas. These are householdnames;
fighters who have been seen over and over
again on American TV, while Kalule is practically
unknown.

ALAN POWER, brother of former British and
European light-welterweight champion Colin, made a
dream professional debut.
The 19-year-old welterweight, who used to box for
Finchley A.B.C., displayed a devastating right hook to
score an inside-the-distance win on the 20th Century
Sporting Club show at Garons Number One Banqueting
Suite.

THE elegance of American light-welter prospect Johnny
Bumphus was again amply demonstrated as he took apart
and halted Arsenea Green, a slugger from Pennsylvania via
the Dominican Republic, in seven rounds at San Remo,
Italy.
