IN THE moments of exultation after Herol Graham's
triumph over Kenny Bristol, it was easy to get carried away
with the enthusiasm. After all, it was a British champion
adding a Commonwealth light-middleweight tide to his laurels
and extending his winning record to 19 straight.
In the cold aftermath, however, there were several doubts
and misgivings thrown up by the 15 dull, rather one-dimensional,
rounds at the City Hall.

THE FIGHT against Gerry Cooney
is one that Larry Holmes both
needs and wants. I know from their
clash at the WBC Convention that
the ill-feeling is genuine and Holmes
badly wants to whip Cooney.
However, apart from the needle and
the cash, Holmes needs an opponent like
Cooney.
