BRISTOL glamour boy Nick Wilshire goes for the
title which has always eluded him when he challenges
Australian Ken Salisbury for the Commonwealth
light-middleweight title at the Albert Hall on
Wednesday (June 5)
There seems to be a lot of West Country flavour
about the sound of the names: Salisbury, Wilshire,
Bristol. In fact, much is topsy-turvy about the fight,

BRITISH light-heavyweight champion Dennis Andries of
Hackney in London gave an outstanding performance as
he outboxed and outclassed Tim "TNT" Broady of New
York to stop his man in the fifth of their scheduled
10-rounds main event at the Atlantis Casino Hotel.

MICHAEL SPINKS. still hoping to challenge Larry Holmes for the
heavyweight championship, keeps in fighting trim by defending his
light-heavyweight title against "Diamond" Jim McDonald at the Riviera
casino hotel in Las Vegas on Thursday (June 6).

ONCE UPON a time there were three Birkenhead lads
who practically grew up together. All three became top
professionals. Sadly, Wally Thorn and Vie Harrison are no
longer with us, but Mickey Flanagan is very much alive
and, told me recently that he keeps very active. He's a
regular on the bowling green, and enjoys taking his
neighbour's dog for walks. I gather that if the dog could
talk it would probably tell Mickey not to walk so far and so
fast.
