THE OLD adage that "if you want something done
properly then do it yourself" certainly rings true in the
entrepreneurial world of manager/promoter Harry Holland.
In the four years since his first involvement in the
professional ranks, his ascent has been somewhat rapid to
say the least.
On October 28, 1981. two of Harry s stable of three
fighters made their professional debuts. One was 18-yearold
Rocky Kelly who had caught the eye of the boxing
fraternity in his assault on the London ABA scene earlier
that year. Kelly knocked out Dave Goodwin in two rounds.

ANOTHER heavyweight prospect making a name for
himself is Mike Tyson and the 19-year-old is t u t o r e d by
none other than Cus D ' A m a t o . the white-haired old gent
who guided Floyd Patterson and Jose Torres to championships.

FLASHY Puerto Rican Hector Camacho took the WBC
lightweight title from Mexican holder Jose Luis Ramirez
with a unanimous 12-rounds decision victory at the Riviera
casino hotel.
Camacho ran away with the decision as he was simply
too fast and t o o clever for the durable but rather plodding
Ramirez. Hard as he t r i e d , the Mexican could never catch
up with his speedy challenger and if he did land a decent
blow, Camacho was quick to avoid a follow up blow or
closed in to hold.
