Boxing News Magazine 2011 Memorabilia

THIS decision stinks - Juan Manuel Marquez was well ahead
as Manny Pacquiao struggled to get past his defence. How can
the judges get it so wrong?
Bob Arum was talking a fourth fight between the two but that
was just trying to please the fans in Mexico and around the
globe. Juan Manuel, you are the people's champion.

IN the three times I've scored Pacquiao-
Marquez III I've come out with two
outcomes: Marquez winning 8-4 in
rounds and Marquez winning 8-3-1 in
rounds. Some say it was either a close
fight or difficult to score. It was neither! It
was a relatively simple fight to score.
The two judges who scored for
Pacquiao should be ashamed. With
so much money on the line from a
Mayweather v Manny fight, this result
stinks. I'm a big Pacquiao supporter but
Marquez should now hold two wins and
one draw against Manny. In my mind
Marquez is the new champ and overtakes
Manny in the pound-for-pound rankings.

PROMOTER Cus Robinson has sadly
passed away at the age of 62. He
died suddenly at his North East
home on Tuesday November 15.
The circumstances surrounding his
death have not yet been confirmed,
although police are not treating it as
suspicious.
After boxing as an amateur,
Robinson established himself
as a manager and promoter in
the 1980s. In 1990, he steered
Newcastle's John Davison to the
WBC International featherweight
title at Hartlepool's Borough Hall,
Six years later, he worked alongside
Frank Warren and Don King, helping
to bring world title clashes to the
Newcastle Arena.

NO ONE has had a harder route to
the Olympic Games than Andrew
Selby. Most boxers needed to reach
the quarter-finals of the World
Championships to qualify. But when
the Welshman watched his GB teammate
Khalid Yafai outbox, outpunch and
outpoint Mexico's Elias Emigdio to make
the last eight, Andrew knew he would
have to do things the hard way.
"I went in the ring [for his qualifying
bout] on a downer," Selby confessed,
not a good state of mind for this
confrontation as he had tough, highly
rated Thai, Chatchai Butdee.
