Morrison looks the best 'White Hope' since Gerry Cooney

Carbajal retains with one punch finish

Non stop Romero snaps Smith's unbeaten run

MANNING GALLOWAY successfully defended his WBO
welterweight title when local hero Gert Bo Jacobsen was
retired by his corner after eight rounds with a grotesquely
swollen and cut left eye that had troubled him from the
third.
Jacobsen fought gallantly to the bitter end, but he had a
hard time catching the fast and elusive Galloway with any
of his big hooks.

ON THE ABA CHAMPIONSHIP TRAIL

SCHOOLBOY RESULTS

JAPANESE-based American Carlos Elliott was rushed to
hospital unconscious and with a broken jaw after being
stopped in seven rounds by France's Gilbert Dele for the
vacant WBA light-middleweight title.
Elliott (28) dropped to his knees as referee Isidro Rodriguez
called it off without bothering to take up the count in the
seventh, after which the boxer collapsed.

LOOKING like one of the finest fighters in boxing, unbeaten
IBF light-flyweight champion Michael Carbajal (right)
made his second defence with a stunning one-punch
knockout over 7th ranked Macario Santos of Mexico at
1:09 of the second round.

OUTRAGE and astonishment swept through the York Hall crowd at the most
depleted North East London divisional championships in memory - probably
history - as a referee sensationally ended the title aspirations of England's two
leading contenders for the ABA light-heavyweight crown with his double
disqualification of them in an eagerly-awaited clash.
Internationals Monty Wright of Repton and Gary Delaney (West Ham) were
thrown out by Jim O'Neill, a Heathrow airport security man, with 37 seconds of
their straight final remaining; Repton's 1990 ABA light-heavy runner-up Mark
Baker having moved down to successfully launch a bid for middleweight
honours.

CANVEY light-welterweight George Smith proved he has
a punch to go with his skills when he pulled out a stunning
right hand to knock out Daniel Kett of Norwich Lads Club
in the Eastern Counties final at Netherhall School Sportshall.

MERSEYSIDE youngsters met with outstanding success in the
North West Counties Schools championship finals at Everton Park
Sports Centre on February 16, a total of 22 winning through to the
National Schools quarter-finals at Everton Park tomorrow (Saturday).
