ADRIEN BRONER defends his WBA
weltenweight title against Marcos
Maidana at the MGM Grand In Las
Vegas on December 14. The Golden
Boy-promoted show will also feature
Keith Thurman-]esus Soto Karass
in a welterweight 12-rounder and
Victor Ortiz challenging IBF lightmiddleweight
king Carlos Molina.
A week before on December 7,
Paul Malignaggi - who Broner
dethroned - returns to take on
fellow New Yorker Zab Judah in
Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
Also appearing on that busy card
is Erislandy Lara-Austin Trout at
154lbs, and Salcio Bilca defending
his WBC super-middleweight belt
against Anthony Dirrell.
It had been expected that
Devon Alexander would
headline that show, but the IBF
welterweight boss now fights
on November 30 against Shawn
Porter, at the Freeman Coliseum in
San Antonio, after talks with Amir
Khan ground to a halt.

VASYL LOMACHENKO could challenge
the WBO featherweight champion
Orlando Salido as early as January 25
in what would only be the Ukrainian's
second fully professional fight.
"The day is already set up, January 25,"
said the Ukrainian's representative, Egis
Klimas.
Lomachenko was relaxed about
fighting tough Mexican Orlando Salido,
who won the title with a stoppage
against Orlando Cruz on the same
bill where Vasyl made his pro debut on
Saturday In Las Vegas.
"What can I think about it?"
Lomachenko told Boxing News with a
casual shrug. "He's a champion, Salido's
a champion, he knocked the guy out. He
was tough. Nothing to think about. He's a
good fighter."
Lomachenko was ambitious in his
first pro fight for Top Rank against
experienced Jose Ramirez, who was
coming off a good away win over Rey
Bautista in the Philippines.

COLCHESTER ABC held their
first show on September 28 at
St. Benedicts Catholic College.
The event showcased the talents
of boxers from all over Essex as
well as those from as far afield as
London, Brighton and Stamford.
Colchester's John Beswick
made a return to the ring after
three years. John looked anything
but rusty however as he took on
the experienced Sam Malone from
Rayleigh ABC. Malone started the
initial exchanges with aggression
but John answered with an evasive
defence and fast powerful counter
punches. Beswick took a unanimous
decision after four rounds.

WALEED DIN reckons he's done
"pretty well" for one who took up
boxing at the advanced age of 16.
The 2013 ABA 48 kgs champion
has won two national titles and it
should have been three.
"When I won the CYPs in
late 20111 got upgraded to
intermediate, so couldn't do the
Novices final a week later," he
explains. "If the Novices final had
been before the CYP final, I could
have done it."
