AS we went to press, Frank Warren
was hoping to receive confirmation
from HBO that Nathan Cleverly
will defend his WBO lightheavyweight
title against
Sergey Kovalev on August 17 in
Cardiff at the Motorpoint Arena.
Warren, who called a Tuesday
press conference to announce the
bout, insisted he found out late
on Monday night Oune 17) that
the deal had not been finalised.
All negotiations had gone through
the American broadcaster, and not
with Kovalev's team. Warren had
already agreed to switch the date
of the bout twice, from July 20 and
August 10.

RUSSIAN heavyweight Alexander
Povetkin is confident that his fight,
slated for October 5 in Moscow, with world
champion Wladimir Klitschko will take
place,
A disagreement about which body to
use for drug testing has been a sticking
point for negotiations. "All the involved
parties are interested in making this
fight happen," Povetkin told Boxing News
through a translator. "Our executives are

Klitschko and I will meet inside the ring.

training once a weel< has risen by 50
per cent from 23,300 (for the period
October 2011-0ctober 2012) to
35,100 (from April 2012-April 2013).
The number of women participating
once per month has gone up 38 per
cent from 36,900 to 51,100 in that
same period.
