RYAN RHODES has given up the
British light-middleweight title,
scuppering hopes of his defence
against Deptford loudmouth
Anthony Small being rescheduled.
Rhodes pulled out of their slated
March clash with a chest infection.
It is believed the reasons for his
decision are connected to Rhodes'
fraught managerial situation.
Rhodes is co-managed by Dave
Coldwell and Frank Warren. As
Rhodes Is now with Hayemaker
Promotions and not Warren's
company, It is believed he wants
out of the contract. Warren, on the
other hand, wants it to continue.
Rhodes has an eight-rounder
against durable Hungarian JANOS
PETROVICS in Belfast tomorrow
(Saturday, April 25), while Warren
Is attempting to match Small with
Manchester's big-punching
Commonwealth champion Matthew
Hall, for both titles, on the June 27
02 Arena show.

HUGHIE FURY, uncle and trainer of
heavyweight prospect Tyson Fury,
rang in response to last week's
story on potential opponents
wanting notice.
"Dave Ferguson wants four
weeks' notice, so Tyson will box
him on Mick Henness/s May 23
[Watford] show," said Hughle.
"And Mick has another show
around June 11, so Tyson will box
on that one against Paul Butlln,
who-Said he wanted six weeks."
Hugle added that, after that, the
Mancliester hope would be willing
to have an eight-rounder against
Irish-based Cuban Mik'e Perez,
whom he has sparred.
Tyson will not after all be boxing
In Connecticut tomorrow (Saturday
April 25) after picking up a cold.

READING heavyweight MICHAEL
SPROTT could face Nigerian
FRIDAY AHUNANYA in a six-rounder
on the May 1 South Point Hotel,
Las Vegas bill.
Ahunanya is close to signing the
contract and ended the unbeaten
records of Shane Cameron and
Alonzo Butler in his last two fights.
"When Jim [Evans] called me and
said he got me a fight in Las
Vegas, I was chuffed," said Sprott.
"It's still my dream to become a
world champion and this will open
doors for me."
On a domestic level, Sprott also
had some words for the 'avoided'
Tyson Fury.
"I've taken fights at all types of
notice," Sprott continued. "So if
the money's right, I'd fight him
tomorrow."
