Nelson must trave
JOHNNY NELSON must go to Rome on November 19 to
defend his WBO cruiserweight title against mandatory
challenger Vincenzo Cantatore.
The Italian promoters won fresh purse bids this
week. The winning bid was $160,000, $5,000 more
than that submitted by Sports Network, Nelson's
promoters.
Nelson has won abroad before, of course, but there
is added emphasis on the Sheffield veteran to succeed:
a big fight against WBU champion Enzo Maccarinelli
awaits him.

Corrie olive branch
CORRIE SANDERS, who hits 40 in January, wants to
fight again. Corrie (pictured below right) also wants to
get back with trainer Harold Volbrecht, who currently
has a million Rand (US $166,000) legal claim against
him for alleged non-payment from his losing battle
with Vitali Klitschko in April 2004.

Masoe desperate
HE stopped EVANS ASHIRA 18
months ago for the "vacant WBA
middleweight title" but New Zealand
puncher MASELINO MASOE has not
been able to get a fight since.
Ashira, meanwhile, meets Joe
Calzaghe next month.
