Elcock tune-up
WAYNE ELCOCK, Birmingham's WBU middleweight
champion, will have a 10-round non-title
bout in Portsmouth on October 11 against Chris
Nembhard of the Peacock Gym.
If Elcock wins, there is the possibility he will
defend in his hometown in December against
Harrow southpaw Matthew Tait.

Eastman-Bendall?
TRIPLE middleweight champ (British, European
and Commonwealth) Howard Eastman must
defend his domestic crown against Coventry
southpaw Steve Bendall by the end of January.
Eastman's next contest is a EBU title defence
against Spaniard Jorge Sendra in November.

Thorpe correction
DANIEL THORPE'S victory over Joel Viney on
September 6 in Aberdeen - covered in last week's
Boxing News - did not see him go 2-1 up in their
series as reported. Viney had actually won their
first two fights, one by knockout, so it was a good
revenge win for Thorpe, who has improved under
the Ingles.

By Peter Foley JUSTIN TURLEY'S glittering
amateur career was saluted
when Penhill RBL ABC's annual
presentation night was staged
at the Penhill British Legion
in Swindon.
The 32-year-old veteran of 108 bouts has
decided to hang up his gloves and end his
involvement with the noble art after more than
20 years.
