VETERAN HEROL GRAHAM,
stopped by Charles Brewer
in a spirited bid for the IBF
super-middleweight title in
AUantic City in March, will fight
on.
He challenges Commonwealth
champion DAVID STARIE on
November 30 with the vacant
British title at stake. No venue
has been confirmed, though the
contest could take place at either
Ipswich or York Hall. It will be
Amber's ninth fight for a
domestic title and his fourth for
a Commonwealth crown.

LEEDS prospect DARREN RHODES (I Ist 7 l/21bs) got off the fioor to knock out Barnsley's
W PERRY AYERS (11st 91bs) after three minutes nine seconds of the second in a well-matched
four-rounder which opened the show.
Rhodes, who trains in Manchester, had worked his way on top in the first when he walked onto a
cracking left hook which dropped him. Up at two for the compulsory eight count, he saw out of the
rest of the session and regained control in the second before hurting Ayers with a left-right salvo.
Perry never really recovered, and just before the bell was nailed by a superb left hook which
sent him crashing down, crawling along the floor to be counted in Rhodes' comer by referee Richie
Davies (the count continues after the bell to end all rounds except the last). Rhodes is now 2-0 (2).

MANCHESTER'S Wayne Rigby (2,5) faces a tough
test when he defends his British lightweight title
against Bradford southpaw Bobby Vanzie in the 12-
round chief support on the Bowlers show.
Victory would give the local boy outright ownership
of a Lonsdale Belt, Wayne having already beaten
Tanveer Ahmed (w pts 12) and Matt Brown (w rtd 8) in
9st 9lbs title bouts, both this year.
