Roy JONES has decided he
wants to be a heavyweight,
but where and when he
makes his foray into the big
league is dictated largely by
on-going negotiations for a unification
match between Evander Holyfield
(VVBA & IBF) and Lennox
Lewis.

CHESTERFIELD featherweight
CRAIG SPACIE is a
man with potential. The former
England junior and 1992 European
Youth champion scored a
third-round stoppage over Rowley
Regis' DAVE TRAVIS at the North
Staffordshire Sporting Club, Trentham
Gardens.
Matchmaker Ron Gray and Pal
Cowdell, co-managers of Travis,
admitted: "Opponents are going to
be wary of Craig. It could be difficult
to find opponents."
Travis (9st), having his third contest,
opened brightly before Spacie
(9st) found his distance with some
well-timed jabs. Both produced
body shots in the second before a
left sent Travis down for three. Referee
Jim Pridding administered
the standing eight count.
Spacie, 2-0 (2), ended the session
with a couple of stinging hooks and
cut Travis over the left eye in the
third. Though Cowdell worked on
the injury in the interval, referee
Pridding said it was too severe for
Travis to continue. The cut
retired three stitches.

Birmingham lightweight ARV
MITTOO was made to work
hard over six twos against wild
Swansea southpaw MARC SMITH
before taking a 59-58 decision,
which made his victory appear
more comfortable than it was.
Smith was warned by Pridding
repeatedly for punching around
the back. Mittoo (9st 121bs) jabbed
well and punched almost non-stop
to keep Smith (9st lOlbs) at bay.
