GRACIANO ROCCHIGIANI
scored a unanimous 10-
round decision over American
John Scully before a
crowd of 8,500 at tfie Max
Schmeling arena to keep his
hopes of another 'world' title fight
alive.
Southpaw Rocchigiani, 33, handled
the visitor as easily as had
Henry Maske, who defended the
IBF light-heavyweight title against
Scully last May.

DANIEL SANTOS, the 1996
Olympic bronze medallist,
scored his seventh straight stoppage
when the brave but outclassed
ERIC VAZQUEZ, 8-5 was
pinned on the ropes and battered
for a good 30 to 40 seconds. The
time was 2-47 of the fifth.
Vazquez (lOst 6 l/21bs), from
Laredo, Mexico, was tough and
capable, but his nose was bleeding
and referee David Avalos let him
take too many shots in the end.
Santos (lOst 81bs), a lanky 6fl
from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, is on
the fringes of world class. He is an
excellent upright boxer and possibly
the best prospect to come out
of the Atlanta Games, but he does
too much posing.

AZUMAH NELSON calls himself
"The Professor", but
Genaro Hernandez took
him to school to clinch his
WBC super-featherweight
title by a split 12-round decision
before a packed crowd of 4,100 at
the Memorial Coliseum.
Gale Van Hoy's 115-114 score for
Nelson was ridiculous and was
over-ruled by Alfred Asaro's 116-
114 card and England's Richie
Davies, whose 118-110 total told
the story.
