EVANDER HOLYHELD has hired Ukrainian brothers
Vltali and Yladimir KUtschko - neither of
whom is a southpaw - as sparring partners for his
November 8 WBA/IBF heavyweight title unification
bout with Michael Mooren Vitali, a former world silver
medallist, is unbeaten in 10 as a pro, while Vladimir,
the 1996 Olympic champion, has won 13.

EUROPEAN super-bantamweight champion
Spencer Oliver leaves for Chicago next week,
where he is being sponsored to box a series of exhibitions.
Oliver, the WBC's No. 4 contender, will defend
his title against mandatory challenger Sergei
Devakov in January or February. British champion
Michael Brodie withdrew as official challenger

THERE is a busy period
ahead for British champions
in European title fights. Flyweight
title-holder ADY LEWIS and
super-middleweight king DEAN
FRANCIS will have home advantage,
while welterweight champion
GEOFF McCREESH must go
abroad.
Lewis will challenge Frenchman
DAVID GUERAULT in Manchester
on November 22 after
Frank Maloney won the purse
bids, while Francis is scheduled
to meet ex-champion FREDERIC
SEILLIER for the vacant title in
London on December 19. Frank
Warren will promote that one.
McCreesh had to postpone his
wedding arrangements until the
New Year when he found out a
vacant European title bid against
MICHELE PICCIRILLO was to take
place in Italy, probably next
month.

ROBERT McCRACKEN, who
is now US-based, will challenge
for HASSINE CHERIH'S
European middleweight title. The
Frenchmtui, who gave Robin Reid
such a tough 12-rounder for the
WBC super-middleweight crown
in September, has been given
until January 18 to defend. The
fight will be promoted by Roger
Ferrer.
