PAUL BUSBY, Worcester ( l i s t 6lbs
6ozs) confirmed a previous win by clearly
outscoring COLIN MANNERS of Leeds
( l i s t 7lbs 4ozs) over eight-threes, referee
Roy Francis scoring 79>4-77.
Manners tried to come forward, but
simply didn't do enough work, while
Busby kept on the move and scored
effectively at long range. The Yorkshireman
had occasional successes: a right
to the side of the head In the third had
Busby grabbing for safety, but Busby
always stayed In control.

BETHNAL GREEN -

Castro in the fifth round
at York Hall.

WITH his crown tottering and blood spurting from
his left eye, rugged WBA light-welterweight king
Juan Martin Coggi (lOst), Brandsen, Argentina,
stormed into challenger Eder Gonzalez (lOst),
Barranquilla, Colombia and decked him twice
within 30 seconds before referee Richard Steele
was forced to stop their wild rematch at 2:01 of the
third round at the MGM Grand Garden.

Completing the family line-up is big
brother Byron, who started it all with a
junior A title in 1991; he meets Stuart
Green from Islington whose three title
attempts in 1993 all ended in favour of the
other corner.
'All the threes' bingo syndrome might
be appropriate in Birmingham. As well as
the Pryce brothers, Hornchurch & Elm
Park have a trio of title challengers; the
afore-mentioned Darren Cook plus Nicky
Cook and Vincent Lynes, whose brother
Colin has already taken two schoolboy
championship trophies back home.
Joe O'Sullivan, who also boxes one of the
Pryce brothers, has Medway Golden Gloves
clubmates Levi and Albert Coates joining
him while the Kent-based club can claim
half share of Repton's Bobby Beck whose
father (also Bobby) is the Medway coach.
Hull-based St Pauls have three at the
Leisure Centre - Wayne Garwood, Paul
Croll and Jim Belts as do Foley (George
Smith, John Read, Geoffrey Digging) and
West Ham (Gary Steadman, Michael
Lomax, Mark O'Callaghan).
Bracknell field three of the four hopefuls
from the Home Counties in Craig
Brown, Anton Johnstone and Andrew
Larkins.
