MUHAMMAD ALI has already claimed his place as the No
1 in boxing's Hall of Fame. There are no other contenders
against the man who over an astonishing 18 years can boast
he revived professional boxing and has continued to
dominate it ever since.

COLIN POWERS was controversially stopped in the
12th round of his European light-welterweight title
defence against rough, brave Fernando Sanchez
"Chino" of Spain.
The fight, held in a portable bull ring near a
building site in this small northern Spanish town,
was yet another in the long line of British failures
abroad.

PRINCE RODNEY, 19-year-old Huddersfield prospect from Tommy Miller's
stable, followed up his July points victory over Welsh champion Horace McKenzie
with an impressive six-rounds stoppage win over Johnny Pincham, the former
Southern Area Champion in the main event at the Yorkshire Executive Sporting
Club.

JIMMY BATTEN climbed off the floor to cut up wonderfully
brave challenger Tony Poole in 13 rounds to retain his
British light-middleweight title at London's newest venue,
Wembley Conference Centre, where promoter Mickey Duff
staged an excellent inaugural bill.
