KEITH KNOX, the Bonyrigg butcher, is to challenge for the
IBO light-flyweight title against Colombian Jose Garcia at
the Bellahouston Leisure Centre, Glasgow on March 20.
It highlights the growing opportunities for our top professionals
these days, the bulk either IBO or WBO title shots.
The same show features a terrific super-featherweight
showdown between former IBO champion Charles
Shepherd and Coventry puncher Richard Evatt. Also,
unbeaten Craig Docherty takes on Jamie McKeever at
super-feather.

GRACIANO ROCCHIGIANI, unimpressive earlier this month
when making his debut as a cruiserweight, scored a victory
over the WBC this week.
He went to the courts - heard in New York - to say the
organisation were wrong to demote him to interim champion
nearly three years ago after he had beaten Michael Nunn.
The German insisted he should have been proclaimed
champion because Roy Jones had vacated rather than box
Nunn. When Jones decided he still wanted to remain champ,
the WBC reinstated him.
Rocchigiani didn't fight for another two years, and our
German correspondent Jack Tree said it was not dear
whether the boxer would receive financial compensation or
be awarded a fight against Jones - which seems unlikely
now Rocky has moved up in weight.

ADRIAN STONE'S IBO light-middleweight title defence on
March 13 has been shifted from hometown Bristol to the
Plymouth Pavilions, his challenger Joe Townsley.
Townsley had been named as official challenger for Wayne
Alexander's British title, but presumably didn't want to turn
down the chance of fighting for a version of the 'world' title.
The card was switched to Plymouth partly because
undefeated local middleweight Scott Dann, a former ABA
champion who has just signed a new three-year deal with
Chris Sanigar, will appear in an eight-rounder - though not
against Aussie Sam Soliman as planned in what would have
been a real test.
Sanigar believes Dann can fill the domestic void at
middleweight once Howard Eastman has moved on to the
world scene. "I think he can go all the way," said Chris.
Commonwealth light-welterweight champion Eamonn
Magee is also fight on the bill in a 10-rounder.

SOUTHERN Area light-heavy
champion BUTCH LESLEY
proved far too sharp for
Featherstone strongman PAUL
BONSON in the six-threes main
event at the Elephant & Castle
Leisure Centre.
He clinched a well-deserved 60-55
verdict from referee Dave Parris on this
inaugural VIP Promotions/TKO Gym
Sunday afternoon show.
