THE fabulous showdown between
Joe Calzaghe and Mikkel Kessler,
probably the best fight that can be
made in the sport today, will take place
at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on
November 3.
Setanta Sports will televise in the
UK and promoter Frank Warren says
the event could not have happened
without the network's backing. The
deal was finalised last week, just after
we had gone to press.

IT'S official: VITALI KUTSCHKO
returns on September 22 in Munich
against JAMEEL McCLINE.
McCline will join an exclusive
club of boxers who have fought
both Klitschko brothers: Corrie
Sanders, Chris Byrd and Ross
Puritty.
Interestingly, all three beat at
least one of the brothers, which
gives McCline hope.
Vitali, of course, has been out
injured for nearly three years.

WILLIE LIMOND says AMIR KHAN
should have been counted out.
The man of the moment told the
Scottish Herald this week: "We
sat in front of the telly and my
trainer Billy Nelson timed it.
"Thirteen seconds - the time it
took the referee to count Khan to
his feet. Not nine. Not even 10. I
couldn't believe it. Still can't."
Limond added: "I've gone from
being angry with myself for not
finishing the job to angry for what
I have just watched on the telly.
"There's no point appealing. The
fight's over. I lost. Only now I know
I didn't."

ITV will show six more Frank
Warren shows over the next 12
months, continuing with the Cardiff
bill tomorrow and then five to be
headlined by new Commonwealth
lightweight champion Amir Khan.
Warren now has the best of both
worlds, because he has also struck
a deal with Setanta TV. He said last
week: "I'm delighted some of my
promotions will be on ITV."

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO came to
the press conference following his win
over Lamon Brewster with his hand
in an ice bag.
Not that you could call it a press
conference - K2's "press area" was
under the stairs, while everyone passed
by. It was chaotic and our man there,
Per Ake Persson, was unable to get
close to ask about the hand.
K2 obviously did this press
conference on the cheap.
Brewster this week said of being
pulled out on his stool: "It's better
to live to fight another day."
Klitschko's hand wasn't broken but
badly bruised, by the way.
