GERMAN former two-weight WBC
champion GRACIAN0 R0CCHIGIANI
has been released from jail.
"Rocky" was given nine months
for violating his probation soon
after he was released from a fivemonth
sentence for attacking a taxi
driver. Rocchigiani, who sued the
WBC when they stripped him of his
light-heavyweight crown and gave it
to Roy Jones, still receives an
annual income from them and is
now hoping to become a trainer.

EUROPEAN super-featherweight
champion, Armenian LEVA
KIRAK0SYAN, defends against
SERGEY GULYAKEVICH of Belarus
on December 22 in Rome on a 0PI
2000 promotion. European
flyweight king ANDREA SARRITZU
and cruiser boss GIAC0BBE
FRAG0MENI defend also.

US heavyweight hope CHRIS
ARREOLA no longer boxes on the
November 16 ShoBox card. He
was due to face TEKE ORUH, also
unbeaten, but apparently Arreola's
best friend was shot in the back by
a stray bullet at a Hallowe'en party
in California.
He died attempting to shield his
girlfriend from party crashers.

ALTHOUGH they were given the
privilege of headlining ShoBox's
100th telecast, neither "Fast" Eddie
Chambers nor Calvin Brock did
much to restore interest or faith in the
ever-declining heavyweight division.
Boxing fans are well accustomed to
disappointment when it comes to those
north of 200 pounds.
Philly fighter Chambers won a very
narrow split decision (115-113 twice
and the same score for Brock) over 12
forgettable rounds at the Emerald
Garden Casino.

A SHOCKER happened at the Morongo
Casino Resort and Spa as former IBF
light-middleweight champion Kassim
"The Dream" Ouma was ambushed
by determined ex-Mexican champ Saul
Roman, who gained a close upset win
in a 10-rounder.
Roman entered the ring with a 28-4
log but an impressive 24 inside and is a
tall, straight-up basic orthodox fighter,
the kind Ouma usually feasts on.
