EUROPEAN flyweight champion Charlie Magri faces a tough time at Wembley on
Tuesday when he meets unbeaten British titleholder Duke McKenzie in a match where
both crowns are at stake. It's a fight Charlie has to win to have a future in the game. See
pages 2-3.

flyweight title against youthful British champion
Duke McKenzie (whose title is automatically at
stake), in what promises to be one of the domestic
fights of the year at the Wembley Arena on Tuesday.

sixth in under four years — compare that to the
desperate situation in the 1970s when there were just

the paucity of contenders, that Walter McGowan was
awarded a Lonsdale Belt by default), highlights the
current revival of the 8st division.
THE annual charity show in aid of Motability (which
specialises in producing special transport for the disabled)

Hotel, with Croydon's Chris Blake taking his unbeaten
record to eight in the main event via an eight-round verdict
over Brighton's Simon Eubanks.

meetings when the London Ex-Boxers' Association
gathered together on the first Sunday in May. A strong
contingent came from Tyneside,-including some members
f r om Sunderland, there was a p a r t y f r om Ipswich, and f r om
the Midlands came Maurice Mancini, Dick Turpin and
Ronnie Vale. But pride of place must go t o the personal
appearance of Dennis Andries, the new WBC lightheavyweight
champion.
