ROCKY KELLY put trauma and tragedy behind
him as he fought with all his old fire and ferocity to
wrest the Southern Area welterweight title f r om
the stubborn and determined grasp of champion
Mark Mills.

TWO potential hat-tricks were shattered when Chorley's Peter Crook lost
his battle for the vacant Central Area light-welterweight title at the Guild
Hall against Doncaster's Gary Williams.

ROY SMITH of Nottingham moved nearer to a shot at the
British cruiserweight title when he outpointed Newport's
Abner Blackstock over 10 rounds in an official eliminator at
the Links Centre.
It was a charity show promoted by Ricky Porter in aid of
former pro Allan Tanner, who suffers from glaucoma, and
the PC Richard Webb body-scanner appeal.

LIGHT-MIDDLEWEIGHT Rocky
Feliciello and Graeme Ahmed served
up a splendid eight-rounder at the
National Sporting Club, with Feliciello
picking himself off the floor twice to
hammer out a hard-won points victory.

FORMER British heavyweight champion Hughroy Currie begins the hard
haul back with a demanding 10-rounder against Glenn McCrory in Oldham
on Tuesday on a Jack Trickett promotion at the Queen Elizabeth Hall,
Civic Centre.
This will be Currie's first outing since he was dethroned in six rounds by
Horace Notice on the Isle of Man last April.
