PROMOTER Bob Arum has said he
would not hesitate matching his
WBC middleweight champion Julio
Cesar Chavez Jnr [above] with
WBC l i s t king Saul Alvarez.
Both fought on highly-rated HBO
shows last month and a future
clash between the Mexican stars
would be huge. Arum said he would
"scrap" Chavez's other plans so
they could meet at a catchweight
of 158lbs because Chavez can no
longer make 154lbs.
According to the Mexico-based
WBC, Alvarez's fight with Ryan
Rhodes was watched by 36 million
on the Televisa network. Alvarez is
due out next on September 1 7 as
part of a split-site double-header
with Floyd Mayweather-Victor
Ortiz. Chavez could be out on
November 19, but might take a
fight in September to keep busy.

SHEFFIELD'S KeU Brook did not get the
response he was looking for everywhere
from his convincing points win over
Lovemore Ndou last weekend.
WBA light-welterweight champion Amir
Khan Tweeted about how unimpressed he
was by the veteran's credentials going into
the bout with the gifted welterweight.
"Kell Brook is fighting a guy who has
lost a lot of fights and was beaten twice
by Paulie Malignaggi at I40lbs. If they say
Brook is good, test him with a genuine top
15 or even top 10 fighter at I47lbs. At the
moment it's all hype."
Brook, new to Twitter, responded: "Don't
talk rubbish, Khan, if you want it you can
have it. Your chin can't stand up to my
power and you know this! When you step up
to I47lbs I'll have a belt waiting for you."
Kell concluded by saying that if Khan
fought him it would help the Bolton man
get back on Sky.

IT'S make-or-break as cruiserweights David
Dolan and Jon-Lewis Dickinson clash
over 10 rounds at the Stadium of Light,
Sunderland FC's ground, on Sunday.
Phil Jeffries promotes a show that
goes ahead on an outdoor stage in front
of the West Stand. North East bragging
rights are at stake in the form of the
vacant Northern Area title - Dolan is from
Sunderland while Dickinson hails from
Birtley, which is Gateshead, on the southern
side of the Tyne across from Newcastle.

JAMES KIRKLAND made quick work of
Dennis Sharpe, stopping him at 2-18 of
the opening round in a scheduled eight
at the Dr Pepper Ballpark (Golden Boy
promoted).
It was Kirkland (list 6lbs), 28-1
(25), who had suffered a similar fate
a couple of months ago when he was
shockingly stopped inside a single
session by unknown Nobahiro Ishida.
The Sharpe fight was intended to delete
it from the memory and although it did
not accomplish that, it did serve as a
reminder of how ruthless Kirkland can be.
Southpaw Kirkland, 27, looked pretty
impressive. True, Sharpe had lost seven
straight, but it had been to quality
opposition and he had gone rounds.
