Boxing News Magazine 2011 History
IT'S tantalising to speculate about contests that could have
happened but never did. Some of my top bouts fitting this
description are: Alexis Arguello versus Salvador Sanchez
(lightweight), Eusebio Pedroza v Sanchez (feather), Aaron
Pryor v Roberto Duran (light-welter), Azumah Nelson v Barry
McGuigan (feather) and Lennox Lewis v Riddick Bowe.
There's something extra-intriguing about the fact that
these bouts might, had circumstances been slightly
different, have happened. Will Manny Pacquiao v Floyd
Mayweather ultimately enter this list?
SCOTT HARRISON has completed
the first stages of getting his
comeback rolling by having his
application for a boxing licence
passed by the Scottish Area Council.
The Glaswegian, who was recently
released from a Spanish jail after
serving two-and-a-half years for
assault, will in the second week of
October meet with the BBB of C,
who are expected to rubber stamp
his application.
MANCHESTER, Connecticut's
featherweight contender Matt
Remillard's career is in trouble after
he pleaded no-contest to a firstdegree
assault charge. The attack,
which left a man with a fractured
skull, hand, and eye socket, was
carried out last year with a baseball
bat. Remillard, out of the ring since
conceding his unbeaten record to
Miguel Angel Garcia in March, could
go to prison for five years when
sentenced on November 29. Both
the boxer and the victim were
dating the same woman.
