MUHAMMAD ALI'S hopes of winning back the
world heavyweight title look distinctly dimmer
following his 12 rounds split decision defeat at
the hands of local favourite Ken Norton before
12,000 fans at the Sports Arena.

JOHNNY CLARK of Walworth, Britain's new bantamweight
champion, got down to work this week in
readying himself to win the vacant European title against
Italy's Zurlo at the Albert Hall cn April 17.

INDOOR professional boxing returns to Dublin on Tuesday
after an interval of nearly five years when the New
Jury's Hotel will be the setting for the city's first dinnerboxing-
cabaret show. There will be four fights on the bill.

MIDLANDS promoter-manager Alex Griffiths says he will
press the Boxing Board to make an inquiry into the fight
at Swansea last week in which his British featherweight
champion, Tommy Glencross, was outpointed bv Billy
Waith.

WELSH bantam champion Colin Milts meets Spaniard Daniel
Rodriguez Figueroa aver eight rounds in the main bout on the
Eddie Richards-Brian Curvis sfiow at the Meadow Vale Club,
Tonyrefail on Tuesday.
It will be Miles' first bout since he was outpointed by Dave
Needham in their exciting British title final eliminator at
Nottingham last November.
Figueroa looks a fair test. He went the distance with European
featherweight challenger Gitano Jiminez earlier this year
but lost on a knockout to Sulley Shlttu, Ghana's Commonwealth
title challenger, last December.
Jeff Burns, Swansea middle, meets Clive Collins (Llantwit
Major) over eight rounds in the chief support.

THE North Eastern Counties took a rare 9-2 mauling
at the hands of their North Western counterparts
in a sensational night's boxing for the
Northern Counties championships at Liverpool
Stadium.

SOUTHERN AREA welter champion Ricky Porter
has consistently been ranked among Britain's
top title challengers but has never managed to
land even an eliminator.

CHRIS FINNNEGAN knows how much is at
