PAT BROGAN is defending stoutly his right to promote his August 10 battle
between Johnny Nelson and Tom Collins as a world title fight.
"Of course it's a world title fight," says Brogan. "Johnny Nelson went to Australia
and knocked out the World Boxing Federation champion Dave Russell in 11 rounds.
"He has earned the right to be able to defend that title in his home country.
"Nelson and Collins are credible fighters. Nelson has boxed in three world
championship fights and Collins two."
The WBF is not recognised by the British Board of Control and therefore cannot
send its own officials. The 12-round contest (at Mansfield) will be controlled by a
Board-appointed referee who will be the sole arbiter. The championship fight will
be held under British rules.
