THE dream of a world title — any world title — lives on for British
middleweight champion Herol Graham, who followed his successful
defence against the brave John Ashton with a challenge to WBO
super-middleweight champ Chris Eubank and, audaciously, to WBC
light-heavyweight title-holder Jeff Harding.
The Sheffield veteran took three rounds to blow away the cobwebs
that had gathered in his 13-month absence from the ring, and a
further three rounds to dismantle Ashton,

PROFESSIONAL boxing made a triumphant return to
the Irish capital and brought fresh hopes to rekindling
interest in a city that has long been referred to as a
graveyard for the paid side of the sport.
And what better setting could there have been than
the purpose-built 2,100-seater Amateur Boxing Stadium,
packed to the rafters to see hometowner Steve
Collins deliver a thoroughly impressive three round
win in what will almost certainly be his last fight before
bidding for the vacant WBA middleweight championship
bout early next year?

A CRUNCHING left hook from Ian Strudwick left Ray
Webb gazing up at the ceiling of the Festival Hall in
their clash for the vacant Southern Area supermiddleweight
title on this Eastside Promotions show.
It was a stunning finish from Strudwick, three rounds
behind, and referee Dave Parris tolled the full count at the 2
min 30 second mark of round eight.
