LONDON fight fans get an overdue look at one of our best-equipped fighters
when lightweight champion Ken Buchanan, MBE, tops the bill at the
Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday. It will be his first London showing since outclassing
Canadian Al Ford at Wembley a year ago.

ANDY SMITH has impressed us all with his shrewd, intelligent management
of Joe Bugner. His matching of Joe with a known quantity, Muhammad Ali,
was a calculated risk, a "paid" boxing lesson from the master and invaluable
experience for young Joe.

MARACAY, VENEZUELA — March 17: Antonio "Kid
Pambele " Cervantes, of Colombia, retained his WBA junior
welter title by halting former champion Nicolino Locche, of
Argentina, in nine rounds.

EUROPEAN junior-middleweight champion Carlos Duran. of Italy. was adjudged
a points winner over Austria's former two-time European champion
Johann Orsolics, over 15 rounds to retain his title before a 10,000 crowd.

FORMER middleweight champion of the world, Nino Benvenuti, has been
offered terms for a comeback campaign by promoter Antonio Arditu. Four
fights for 50,000,000 lire. This sum (£33,590) might well cause Nino to ponder
an the question of again facing training, discipline, and the long slow
grind that must be taken in often bitter doses to get into shape.

BILLY FINNEGAN, the classy Midland Counties light-welterweight, ended
the 1973 title hopes of Eastern Counties' star, Dave Green, in the ABA
quarter-final clash between the Midland Counties and Eastern Counties.

MANCHESTER once again proved no match for
Merseyside in the North Western Counties championships
at Liverpool Stadium, and a 9-1 margin
for the Mersey squad meant they retained the
Jack M. Peel Memorial Trophy team award, which
they have won every year since its inception in
1957.

A CHAIR, newspapers, cigarettes and bits of crumpled paper were thrown
into the ring when Dermot O'Connor (Stowe) was given the decision over
Poly's Peter Cain in the light-middleweight final of the North West London
Divisional championships at the Town Hall.

FOR action, drama and excitement Manor Place
Baths for the South East London Divisional Championships
was the place to be. Not unduly affected
by re-zoning the championships had a little of
everything for the capacity audience, and again
the division will feature prominently in the London
finals at the Royal Albert Hall on April 4.
