STRENGTH and power won the day for Michael Ayers as
the Tooting puncher became the new British lightweight
champion with a convincing sixth round stoppage
over Paul Burke at the Leisure Centre.

WEST HAM hopeful MARK DELANEY scored
his 14th straight win, 13 inside the distance, when he
stopped Plymouth's PETER VOSPER in the
first of a scheduled six round show-opener.
One crunching left hook did the job after Delaney had
spent the first two and a half minutes searching patiently
for openings against the cautious West Countryman.

STEPHEN TUCKETT, son of former
pro Bob Tuckett, proved himself a
chip off the old block when he took
an impressive 59-58 verdict from referee
Keith Gamer over Manchester
light-welterweight Paul Hughes in a
six-twos at the Piccadilly Sporting
Club.

PHIL HENEGHAN, last year's North West Counties champion,
Is considering his future in the sport after losing
his East Uncashire & Cheshire middleweight title at the
Pembroke Halls.
