AMOS TALBOT, the 20-year-old

surprise in the main event at the
Anglo-American Sporting Club
show at the Hotel Piccadilly
where Manchester United soccer
star, George Best, was guest of
honour.
Talbot, having his first eight-round
contest, stopped Fred Powney the
Doncaster holder of the Central
Area title, in the last minute of
an all-action bout Powney suffering
a severe cut above the left
eye in a clash of heads when
Talbot set up a furious onslaught
after being clearly outboxed in
the early rounds.
