VYACHESLAV GLAZKOV had
to settle for a dubious 10-round ,
majority decision over Derric
Rossy, from Long Island, New York.
With one judge scoring it
95-95 - as did many ringsiders -
a second tabbed it 96-94 for the
Ukraine native. However, it was the
outlandish score of 98-92 on the
card of Pierre Benoist that gave
rise to much head-scratching.
Unbeaten Texas lightweight Omar
Figueroa, 23-0 (17), wilLprobably have
too much ambition for the 32-2-1 (24)
Mexican David Estrada and there's what
is almost certain to be a brief cameo
performace from knockout heavyweight
contender Deontay Wilder, as he tunes
up for his WBC title shot at Bermane
Stiverne. He's looking to improve his
record to 32-0 (32).
On the undercard, Liverpool supermiddleweight
prospect Cailum Smith
and Hull's 2012 Olympic gold medallist
Luke Campbell earn some US exposure
on the bill. IN
UK Anti-Doping handed its
first lifetime ban from sport
to Philip Tinklin, the father of
amateur boxer Sophie Tinklin,
who has been banned for four
years herself, following a police
investigation into the trafficking
of anabolic steroids.
The National Anti-Doping
Panel found that as Mr. Tinklin's
involvement in boxing amounted
to transporting his own and
other children to Welsh Amateur
Boxing Assodation events and
competitions he is bound by antidoping
rules.
