WITH less than three weeks to go until
the fight, I've been easing down really,
still sparring, working on different things.
We got Eddie Chambers in for three
weeks. He's got the head movement
and slickness and he's fought the best
heavyweights in the world so he was a
must-have sparring partner. He was as
good as we all expected. He's slick, quick
and good for getting my timing right.
When I spar, we have one opponent in,
one out, for 1 2 rounds. I've done a hell of
a lot of rounds' sparring; it's the training
that's most like a fight,

featherweight title on the scales
prior to a scheduled defence
against Juan Manuel Lopez,
it was a matter of when, not
if, Mikey Garcia would move
up in weight. The answer to

posted impressive results, beating

unanimously in his first bout.
Dignum heaped further misery
on Cuba's Carlos Banteur with
a unanimous win. Banteur, an
Olympic silver medallist in 2008,
had lost to Conrad Cummings in a
World Series of Boxing exhibition
match in Mexico just prior to this
