MANY might thinl;; the last year should

trainer Franny Smith being replaced by
Adam Booth, and long-time promoter
Frank Maloney recently announcing his
retirement. Price enters the next stage of
his career without those comfort blankets
of the past. He Is set to return in December

against an opponent to be decided.
SCULPTOR Stephen
Layne has started
work on a statue
of the legendary

The artist is using
an image talcen of
"Smoicin" Joe just
after he knoclced
down Muhammad Ali
in 1971 as inspiration
for his work. It will
be erected at the

been re-scheduled
for November 27 in
Sydney. The bout

THOMAS KINDON is one of several
prospects coming out of the thriving
Guildford City club. The 18-year-old
(born 25-1-95) has already compiled
an impressive list of honours: two
CYP titles (A and B), the junior ABAs,
the Three Nations and the Minors.
On the international front,
he struck gold at a tournament
in Ireland that also included
powerhouses Ukraine and Russia.
This season is his first as a senior.
Thomas is now up to 54kgs
and if the Senior ABAs are at the
international weights (52/56), he'll let
head coach john Edwards decide what
to do. But he's outgrown 52kgs, and
working as a roofer with his father
and brother is giving him the manstrength
he lacked when he had a GB
trial last year (at 17 and 49kgs).
