Crolla to take this fight,

FRANK WARREN is furious about

Nathan Cleverly's November 10
Los Angeles opponent but was "100
per cent sure" the Welshman would
fight. Ryan Coyne, the original
challenger, was vetoed because he
did not feature in the WBO Top 15,
leaving the opponent unknown as
Cleverly flew to the States.
"We've wasted a lot of time on
this," said Warren, "and Nathan
deserves better."

TOURNAMENT competition returned
to the Merseyside amateur scene
on October 19 as the finals of
the NACYP championship were
held before an enthused crowd at
Liverpool's Alsop Sports Centre.
Hopes of national success rank high
amongst the region's clubs and this
optimism was displayed in doses
following a number of impressive
displays.

to remember as they registered
three victories including that
of decorated youngster, Peter
McCrall, who wasted no time in
getting his championship campaign
off to the ideal start with a first
round victory over Warrington's Jake
Jameson. The latter had no answer.

finals are clubmates, Andrew Cain
and Uince Holligan, who both
worked tirelessly for their wins over
resilient opposition. Cain renewed
old rivalries with Rotunda's Ryan
Briscoe and it was his ferocious
workrate that brought him a clear
victory. It was the same energy from
Holligan that gained him the verdict
versus Knowsley Vale's Louis
Edwards.
There was some cheer for the
KIrkby-based club later in the
evening as they registered two
victories via the excellent Tom
Aitchlson and Danny Sullivan
The former's accuracy was too much
for Rotunda's Jamie Small, whilst
Sullivan was pushed hard by West
Wirral's Steve Williams before
earning a majority verdict from the
ringside judges.
There was also double joy for
Kirkby ABC thanks to the industry of
Luke Ackers and Harry Woods.
Ackers had to put sentiment to
one side as he had to overcome
the obstacle of gymmate, Kieren
Byrom. For Woods, he had to
remove the threat of Sefton's
Jack Williams. Both passed their
respective tasks in workmanlike
fashion.
The ruthlessness of Jake
Cotsopoulous was the telling
factor in his battle with Sefton's
Jack Dobbin. The Higherside boxer
set a fast pace from the outset and
his stamina was awarded when the
action was brought to a halt halfway
through round three.
Also excelling were Baz
Dambadarja and Suraj Sdmra,
who both put in fine performances
against stubborn opposition.
Gemini's Dambadarja was pushed
all the way by Rotunda's Brian
Phillips on his way to victory and
it was a similar story for Birkenhead
Venture's Suraj Samra, who
remained focused throughout to
see off Everton Red Triangle youth,
