WHILE David Haye attempted
to goad Uitaii Kiitschlco into
a fight, the veteran WBC world
heavyweight champion held a
press conference on Monday July
16 in Moscow, Russia to officially
announce that he'll defend his
title against Manuel Charr at
the SC Olimpiyski Sports Arena on
September 8. Charr was absent
from this press conference,
although he had been in London
for the David Haye-Dereck Chisora
fight two days before. "Charr thinks
I am dead and he can tear me up
like a wild lion," said a surprisingly
aggressive Klitschko. "But my name
is Or Ironfist and Charr will feel this
and lose all his teeth. He will walk
back to the tiger's cage without
teeth."
HBO, the American network
who are rarely interested in fights
involving Vitali or his brother
Wladimir, will broadcast the fight
in the US. Speculation continues to
build that this could be Klitschko's
final ring outing.

AMIR KHAN released a statement
on Monday July 16, barely two days
after his stunning loss to Danny
Garcia, confirming he will return
once he has rested.
"Many fighters down the years
have bounced back from defeat to
prove-their greatness and that's
exactly what I intend to do," said
the 25-year-old.
"I've never shirked any challenge
or refused to fight anyone in my
division even though it would have
been easy for me to do so. Some
may say that attitude is the wrong
one to have but I've always wanted
to please the fans and be involved
in exciting fights because many of
you pay good money to come and
watch me, and it's only right that
you get to see the best fighting
the best, especially in an age when
so many top fighters hand-pick
opponents.
"I'm going to spend the next few
weeks relaxing during Ramadan
and recharging my batteries after
what was a 16-week training camp
for me. I'll then sit down with my
team to assess the options in front
of me. Well done to Danny Garcia
on his performance, but I promise
that I'll bounce back stronger than
ever as I look to regain my spot at
the top of the 1401b division."

TRAINER Danny
Garcia has confirmed
that he's split
with former WBC
welterweight
champion Victor
Ortiz. The fighter
still has a metal
plate and screws
in his jaw after
It was broken in
a June upset to
loseslto Lopez. He is
expected to be out
of action for at least
six months.
