kept his World Boxing

Jana had sustained
swellings by both eyes.
The fight set up something
of a record. It was the first
contest held in Italy for some
time where the spectators
didn't throw debris into the
ring.

Jack Solomons flew into snow-bound
New York City and got an even chillier
reception from Mike Jacobs, boss-man in
the American fight business. Solomons
had a war-weary public back home
clamouring for entertainment and he was
determined to give them the best
fighters in the game.
