KEVIN MITCHELL has a WBO superfeatherweight
title shot against
Nicky Cook conqueror ROMAN
MARTINEZ lined up for July.
But first the unbeaten Londoner,
who has been out of action 10
months with a damaged hand, has
an eight-round warm-up at York
Hall, Bethnal Green on May 22
(opponent to be confirmed).
That takes place on the
undercard of the rescheduled KELL
BROOK-YOUNG MUTLEY British
welter title fight. Brook pulled out
with an injured hand against Mutley
for a fight next week (April 24).
Mutley still appears on that
Wohrerhampton bill topped by DON
BROADHURST defending his
Commonwealth super-flyweight belt
against Ghana's ASAMOAH WILSON.
Also on the May show, GARY
SYKES and ANTHONY CROLLA will
face off in a British super-feather
title eliminator.

MASTERBLASTER EDWIN VALERO,
25-0 (25), will make a quick first
defence of his WBC iigtitweight title.
Top Rank liave put liim on their
July 25 Latin Fury pay-per-view
show - the opponent and venue has
yet to be decided although promoter
Bob Arum has said JUAN MANUEL
MARQUEZ must go through Valero
first if he wants to box IMANNY
PACQUIAO again.
Valero won the vacant WBC belt
by destroying Antonio Pitalua in
two rounds earlier this month.
Marquez, though, has shown no
interest in a Valero fight and
reportedly negotiations for a match
against FLOYD IVIAYWEATHER
stalled over weight - Mayweather
wanted to box at welter and
Marquez not above light-welter.
So now Marquez may end up
fighting the washed-up and returning
ERIK MORALES according to
manager and trainer Nacho
Beristain. That could happen in Las
Vegas in September.

NAMES slated for t h e June 27
Amir Khan-Andreas Kotelnik 0 2
Arena undercard include British
middleweight champion M a t t h ew
Macklin, Commonwealth
light-middle boss M a t t h ew Hall,
Commonwealth light-heavy ruler
Nathan Cleverly, unbeaten
heavy prospect D e r e k Chisora and
the three exciting Walsh brothers.

EUROPEAN bantamweight champion
Luke Campbell (below) has not entered
this year's ABA championships. The St
Paul's, Hull southpaw has won the last
two ABA crowns at 54 kgs, in
December 2006 and May 2008.
Explained his coach Mike Bromby,
"Luke is involved in the GB programme,
with camps and competitions leading
up to the World Championships."
St Paul's are entering Vince
Collingwood at light-heavy. Vince
won three national Schools titles, two
by beating James DeGale in the final.
Since returning to boxing as a senior,
Collingwood has notched four wins.
St Paul's also enter light-welterweight
Steve Newlove, a national ABA quarter-
