JEAN-MARC MORMECK of France is
hoping for a rematch with David
Haye, the man who ripped the
WBC/WBA cruiserweight titles from
him in November.
But first he has to recover from an
operation on a tendon in his left
hand, which he underwent days after
being stopped in seven by Haye.
"I want a warm-up fight in May or
June and then a return against Haye,"
said Mormeck.
He also wants a crack at the IBP
title held by Steve Cunningham but
was non-committal about a bout
against countryman Fabrice Tiozzo,
who has been retired for nearly two
years.
"We'll have to see if Tiozzo really
wants it and can make the weight."

PROMOTER Dennis Hobson says he
would like to see CLINTON WOODS
have one more fight in the UK (in
March) before making his American
return.
Fights against Joe Calzaghe and
Chad Dawson have recently fallen
by the wayside but could still occur
in the future.
For now, classy veteran Glen
Johnson is being lined up for
Dawson, while Calzaghe could still
get Bernard Hopkins.
"Clinton's become so popular
here now," said Hobson, "so we'd
like one more then maybe the
States. Showtime are keen and
there's always the Australian option
with Danny Green or Paul Briggs."

MARK PRINCE, the former WBO
light-heavyweight challenger whose
15-year-old son Kiyan was stabbed
to death in 2006, is a nominee in
the News of the World's Childrens'
Champions awards.
They recognise those who
contribute to the lives of youths in
the country.
Prince, featured in BN
(September 21), was put forward
by Haringey Youth Council cochairman
Adam Jorge. He
nominated the former fighter for
the work he has done trying to
save other children from a similar
fate to Kiyan after he set up the
Put the Knives and Guns Down
charity.
Jorge, 16, said: "Mark is
passionate and inspirational. He's
helping young people get a voice
and stand up for themselves."

WINNER of the National Novice Class
A super-heavyweight final at York
Hall on December 16 was Stephen
Richardson (Charnwood), who beat
Repton's Larry Olubamiwo 7-0.
But the scoreline was misleading -
Richardson actually received a standing
count in the second of this 3 x 2s!
"It was from a right cross," said
Repton head coach Tony Burns.
So is Richardson as good as the
points margin suggests?
"Not really," said the hugely
experienced Burns. "But he knew he
had to stay out of Larry's way. He just
kept moving, moving, moving and
Larry could never get ahold of him."
It was Olubamiwo's 11th bout (six
wins and five defeats).
