ENZO MACCARINELLI may have
to face Argentine veteran Marcelo
Dominguez next while WBO cruiser
champ Johnny Nelson recovers from a
knee injury.
Maccarinelli is WBO interim champ.
Promoter Frank Warren said he'd
prefer Maccarinelli to face Italian
Vincenzo Cantatore "because it
would be a better spectacle".
But it is in the hands of the WBO.
Boxer murdered
SAD news: London light-middle Andy
Weston, who had just been granted his
British licence, was kidnapped and shot
dead last weekend. Weston, 26, had
turned pro in the States and was 5-0
(5). He would have been trained and
managed by Chris Hall and was said
to be hot. "He was a bad boy who
wanted to turn his life around,"
said Jon Feld, his promoter.
PICTURED right are Priory Park ABC
duo Thomas Ghent and Ryan Aston,
who last month in Knottingley both
won the national Golden Gloves
Championships for their club.
Ghent won at Class 2 50 kgs, beating
Scott Wilson (Pilgrims) 4-3.
Aston won at Class 3 63 kgs, beating
Tyler Goodjohn (Haddenham) 8-6.
Ryan is a former Schoolboy champion
and was Four Nation gold medallist in
2004.
